    About the Training Center

    NIMHANS is the apex centre for mental health and neuroscience education in the country. It is an Institute of National Importance operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Dating back to 1925, NIMHANS is spread over an area of 174 acres of urban establishments. The Neurosurgery Department is one of the oldest in India founded in 1957.

    We take pride in both the clinical and research activities and at present, we are one of the largest departments in the world. We handle more than 65000 OPD patients per day, have 19 Faculty, 44 Neurosurgery Residents, 225 dedicated Neurosurgery beds, 12 operation theatres/day, more than 9000 surgeries per year and an academic output  of more than 75-100 peer published articles per year, we have been consistently ranked in the top three departments of the country. All the sub-specialties (skull base surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, neuro-oncology, neuro-endoscopy, minimally invasive neurosurgery, Gamma-knife radiosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, Movement disorders and epilepsy) are well established at NIMHANS

     

    Program Details

    The department of Neurosurgery, NIMHANS announces 3 international fellowships for a period of 3 months duration each for young neurosurgeons from developing countries.

    During their fellowships, the fellows will mainly act as observers. However, if they get a temporary registration from Indian Medical Council). They will be allowed to assist. assisting in neurosurgical procedures

    Fellows will be paid a stipend of Rs. 50,000/- per month which includes accommodation.

    • Fellows can choose to observe any neurosurgical subspecialty (as mentioned above) they are interested in, including emergency surgeries.
    • Fellows will also attend regular rounds in wards, Neuro intensive care unit. They can actively participate in educational discussions such as journal club or topic review.
    • Fellows will be allowed to write the articles and publish their work during the fellowship program.

    Required documentation

    • A copy of the passport or the ID card
    • A copy of the diploma in Medicine or a certificate issued by the Faculty of Medicine.
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • The letter(s) of recommendation.
    • A motivation letter
